Fusion of Sports and studies: Parul Lau Gaur

The 90th Annual Convocation of the University of Delhi was held recently at Convention Hall, Old Vice Regal Lodge, University of Delhi. The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee and visitor of the University of Delhi gave away Ph.D degree and medal to the meritorious students and delivered the convocation address. 

In the pursuit of sporting carrier, most sportspersons fail to do well in studies. Parul Lau Gaur nee Parul Lau is one of the rarest players who excelled in both sports and studies. Parul Lau continued scripting her success stories when she was in D.P.S, R.K Puram and later did her graduation and Postgraduate in History from St. Stephen’s College Delhi. She did her M.Phil. (History) from University of Delhi and awarded Ph.D recently by President of India. Pranab Mukherjee in the Convention Hall, Old Vice-Regal Lodge, University of Delhi, for her thesis “Temple and Town in Medieval Tamikakam: A case study of Rameshwaram (Tenth to seventeenth centuries A.D.)”,   under the guidance and supervision of renowned historian Prof. T.K. Venkatasubramanian. 

Parul represented Delhi team in National Championship and Delhi University in the Inter-university Table Tennis Championship she later Captain the St. Stephen’s College Table Tennis team which won the Delhi University Inter-College Table Tennis title after a gap of 16 years beating erstwhile defending Campion Shri Ram College of Commerce in 1997-98.

Parul Lau Gaur presently working as Assistant Professor in Dept. of History Maitrey College, University of Delhi.
